2024-2025 Stake Youth Activities & Announcements

Columbia Temple is open for appointments. starting March 5, 2024. Feel free to make appointments for your family or ward.

October 22nd - January 14th - Pre-Registration for FSY - Our stake has been assigned to June 30th-July 5th OR July 7th-12th, 2025 at Furman University in Greenville, SC. We are choosing to go to FSY as a Stake July 7th-12th. If you are unable to attend that week, please do choose to go the other offered week. Youth can register for any session/location. During pre-registration, youth can request to be assigned to a group with five of their friends. Age restrictions: Youth may attend the year they turn 14, and they can still attend as long as they have not turned 18 by the end of their FSY session.

March 29th: Tri-Stake Prom 7-10:00 pm (LKN hosts) For youth turning 16 and up

May 17th: Pre-FSY Tri-Stake Youth Activity & Dance 3-9:00 pm (Lincoln Charter School-Lincolnton Campus) (For youth turning 14 and up) Check-in starts at 2:45 pm

June 7th: YW Pre-Camp Activity (9:00 am-12:00 pm)

June 14th: Lincolnton Dance 7-10:00 pm (Lincolnton Building) For youth turning 14 and up

June 30th - July 3rd: YW Camp (Camp Dickenson)

July 7th-12th: FSY (Furman University-Greenville, SC)

July 14th-18th: YM Camp

August 7th: Festival for Youth (Broadcast)

August 23rd: Post-FSY/Back to School Activity for ALL YOUTH (Copperhead Island) 2:00-6:00 pm

Mini-Mission 2025

To the Youth:

Recent Graduates, Seniors, and Juniors,

You are hereby called to serve in the Mini-Mission of the North Carolina Gastonia Stake. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 2 days.

You should register here then report to the Gastonia Stake Center on Redbud Road on Saturday, 22 February 2025 at 8:00 AM to receive your assignments and start the day with your Full-Time Missionary (FTM) companions.

Please bring with you:

Overnight gear for Saturday night, including sleeping bags and pillows.
Money for lunch on Saturday.

Your Mini-Mission should follow this agenda:

Companionship Study with your FTM companions.
Proselyting service in the areas of your FTM companions among investigators, new members, less active members, and active members.
Dinner appointment with the FTMs.
Spend the night with a host family within the boundaries of the area of your FTM companions.
Start Sunday morning with study, eat breakfast with your host family, and prepare to attend church in the unit of your FTM companions.
Return to your own home after the 2nd hour block of Church meetings.
Sunday evening fireside and testimony meeting.

You have been sent in these last days to this part of the Lord's vineyard to help prepare it for His coming. Many blessings are promised to those who work "with all [their] heart, might, mind, and strength." Among these are blessings of peace and happiness, spiritual strength, and eternal salvation.

We look forward to your arrival at the Mini-Mission and the time we will all be able to spend together helping our Father in Heaven "bring to pass the immortality and eternal life" of our fellow brothers and sisters.

The Stake Young Women and Young Men Presidencies

To the Parents and Leaders:

We ask that Bishoprics and Young Women's leaders prayerfully discuss together and consider who from their unit would most benefit from this activity and invite them to register here. As needed, youth leaders or parents may complete the registration form on behalf of a youth. Please share with the youth that we are prioritizing older youth (graduated, seniors, then juniors) since younger youth will have future opportunities to participate in this recurring activity. Currently we have spots for at least 16 young women and at least 24 young men so we would encourage registration as quickly as possible. Once we receive the names and verify that there is space for the youth, you will be notified and we ask that the Bishop/Branch President personally extend the invitation to the youth.
Youth companionships are not allowed to ride in the car of the FTMs, so it is preferable that one of the youth in the companionship is able to drive and have their youth companion(s) and the FTM companionship ride with them, or be prepared to follow the missionaries to their appointments in one of the youth’s cars. If there are not enough youth drivers, rides will be arranged.
The Stake Relief Society Presidency will be working with the Unit Relief Society Presidents to help arrange host families that meet the missionary standards. (With the exception that the youth will not need dedicated rooms, they will bring sleeping bags and pillows to sleep on floors, couches, etc.)
Brother Farr will be working with the unit mission leaders to make sure that there is a full day of work in each area to maximize the impact of this experience.
